Event 26th August 2020: Transmission of Covid-19 in hospitals: Focus group for patients & families
The Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch (HSIB) is investigating how hospitals in England can minimise the likelihood of patients catching Covid-19 on acute hospital wards, and we need your help.
HSIB conducts independent healthcare investigations in order to improve patient safety across the NHS.
We have been made aware of multiple incidents where people go into hospital without signs of coronavirus and some days after admission, or soon after discharge, have developed symptoms of the virus.
Our investigation aims to help the NHS understand how to reduce the risks of hospital transmission of the virus. We will review the structures and processes in place, from the top of the NHS right through to ward level, that are designed to reduce hospital transmission and identify if there are ways that these might operate more effectively.
In order to fully understand the transmission of Covid-19 in hospitals we would like to hear the experience of patients who were in hospital during the pandemic. We are holding two focus groups to gather patients’ views.
If you or any family members were in hospital in England over the last few months and believe you contracted Covid-19 whilst in hospital then please register to attend one of the focus groups.
