Patrick Vernon OBE Joins the Judging Panel: The National BAME Health & Care Awards 2022
The National BAME Health & Care Awards 2022
Black Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) NHS staff, communities and healthcare services have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 since March 2020.
But there are many other barriers facing this group and the communities they serve, including harassment and bullying, and the lack of career progression and targeted interventions.
Currently, a higher percentage of junior doctors are from the Black, Chinese and mixed ethnic groups while senior doctors are likely to be white (56.2%). Among the non-medical staff, there’s a higher percentage of people from Asian, Black, mixed and other ethnic backgrounds in support and middle grades compared with senior grades.*
Work needs to be done to highlight BAME role models and diversify the leadership talent pool in British healthcare – and that’s where we come in.
The National BAME Health & Care Awards celebrate BAME staff and networks across British health and social care who are making significant improvements in BAME career development support and forging better healthcare initiatives for their communities.
Join us in celebrating the BAME role models in healthcare by tuning into The BAME Health and Care Awards 2022 and sharing the content we publish about the event on our sister site DiversityQ.
