Hybrid Diaspora Town Hall for the UK and Europe
The Jamaican High Commission in London has extended an invitation to members of the Jamaican diaspora and friends of Jamaica across the United Kingdom and Europe to participate in a Hybrid Diaspora Town Hall on Saturday, 7 March 2026. The event aims to strengthen dialogue between the Jamaican government and diaspora communities ahead of the upcoming 11th Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference.
The town hall will feature keynote remarks from Kamina Johnson Smith, Jamaica’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, who will engage directly with diaspora members on key issues shaping Jamaica’s future. The event will be hosted by Alexander Williams, Jamaica’s High Commissioner to the UK, and will also include contributions from Paulette Simpson, Executive for Corporate Affairs and Public Policy at the Jamaica National Group.
Scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. (UK time), the hybrid session will bring together Jamaicans and supporters of Jamaica from across the region through both in-person and virtual participation. The discussion will focus on three key themes: trade, investment, and climate resilience, areas that are central to Jamaica’s development agenda and its engagement with the global diaspora.
The conversation is particularly significant as it forms part of the lead-up to the 11th Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference, which will bring together Jamaicans from around the world to discuss opportunities for collaboration, national development, and strengthening diaspora partnerships.
By convening this town hall, the Jamaican High Commission continues to highlight the importance of diaspora involvement in national development, reinforcing the long-standing relationship between Jamaica and its global community.
