As momentum builds for this national celebration of Black excellence, allyship and equity, two exceptional leaders have been confirmed as headline speakers adding significant depth, expertise and inspiration to the week’s programme.
Spotlight on Two Speakers
Dr T. Ayodele Ajayi FRCPsych
Dr Ajayi is one of the UK’s most recognised authorities on Black mental health. As a leading Consultant Psychiatrist and Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, he has become a trusted national voice on the mental health experiences of Black communities.
Through his advocacy, media work and central role in the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities’ Every Mind Matters campaign, Dr Ajayi continues to champion culturally attuned mental health support. His contribution to Black Inclusion Week 2026 promises to bring critical insight and powerful storytelling to the national stage.
Professor Patrick Vernon OBE FrHistS
Professor Patrick Vernon is a major force in UK public life. With decades of experience across health, social care, public health, cultural heritage, regeneration and community development, he has shaped policy and practice at ministerial, organisational and grassroots levels.
Known for his strategic leadership and ability to navigate politically sensitive environments, Patrick’s advocacy for equity and social justice has made a lasting national impact. His participation in Black Inclusion Week 2026 adds both gravitas and vision, helping to anchor the week in meaningful, long-term change.
