Care Circle for Hurricane Melissa

As communities continue to navigate the emotional and practical fallout of Hurricane Melissa, Black Psychotherapy is hosting a virtual Care Circle, a dedicated space for healing, solidarity and collective care. Taking place on 29 November, this free online gathering offers a protected environment for Black and Global Majority communities to process the grief, fear, anger and exhaustion that often accompany climate disaster and racial injustice.

This circle recognises that the impact of Hurricane Melissa extends far beyond physical damage. Many are grappling with the emotional toll of worrying about friends, family and wider communities, alongside the broader weight of ongoing racism, extremism and inequality. The Care Circle provides a rare, intentional space to be held, witnessed and supported without the need for explanation.

What the Circle Offers

Participants will come together to:

  • Share stories and reflections in a supportive space

  • Honour the emotions that arise during times of crisis

  • Acknowledge the toll of racism, injustice and climate anxiety

  • Practice grounding and care strategies that nurture resilience

  • Reaffirm collective power, creativity and strength

There is no requirement to contribute, attendees may share, listen, rest or simply be present. The only request is to keep cameras on where possible, helping to maintain a sense of safety, connection and co-regulation, especially in breakout groups.
