Windrush National Organisation Leads Coordination Effort in Response to Hurricane Melissa

On Monday 3rd November 2025, the Windrush National Organisation (WNO) convened a special online coordination meeting to unite faith leaders, community organisations, and advocates in response to the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa.

The meeting, held via Zoom, brought together church and community representatives from across the UK and the Caribbean to discuss a collective medium- and long-term strategy to support those affected by the disaster.

Chaired under the theme of unity and collaboration, the session provided a vital opportunity for churches, faith groups, and community organisations to share insights, identify resources, and coordinate recovery efforts. The focus was on ensuring that the response to Hurricane Melissa was both sustainable and inclusive, addressing immediate needs while also planning for long-term rebuilding and resilience.

The Windrush National Organisation emphasised the importance of working together across communities and faiths, ensuring that support reaches the most vulnerable and that no one is left behind.

Participants were encouraged to share the invitation widely within their networks and to nominate representatives if unable to attend personally—reinforcing the organisation’s ethos of collective responsibility and action.

The meeting reflected WNO’s ongoing commitment to advocacy and empowerment, as captured in their motto:“Advocating Today for a Better Future.”

Through initiatives like this, the Windrush National Organisation continues to play a leading role in mobilising community action and strengthening solidarity in times of crisis.
