Success for Hackney at The Jamaica Times awards on 21 June, 2014. Rev Rose Hudson-Wilkins won the religious representative award and Patrick Vernon the political representative award.

Speaking about the award Patick said: “We are both with the Jamaican High Commissioner Her Excellency Mrs. Aloun Ndombet-Assamba who is acknowledging our achievements as a patron to the awards. I would like to acknowledge the other short listed Councillors who work hard for their local community. I would also like to thank family, friends, and colleagues within the Labour Party and the wider community who have supported me over the last 8 years as a Councillor in Hackney. Finally, I give tribute to the Jamaican diaspora community in the UK who despite all the challenges we face we still punch above our weight!!”
