National B.A.M.E. Health & Care Awards 2026

Professor Sir Patrick Vernon OBE FrHistS has been announced as a judge for the National B.A.M.E. Health & Care Awards 2026, which will take place as part of the B.I.D.E. Summit on 17 September 2026.

A longstanding advocate for health equity, race equality and inclusive leadership, Professor Sir Patrick has dedicated his career to improving outcomes across the NHS, public health, social care, academia and the voluntary sector. His appointment reflects his continued commitment to recognising those who are making a meaningful difference across the health and care sector.

The National B.A.M.E. Health & Care Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic professionals, teams and organisations whose innovation, compassion and leadership are helping to shape a more inclusive and equitable health and care system.

Commenting on his appointment, Professor Sir Patrick emphasised the importance of recognising excellence, noting that celebrating achievement not only acknowledges the dedication of individuals and teams but also inspires future leaders and showcases the positive impact of inclusive leadership.

He also encouraged colleagues across the sector to nominate outstanding professionals and organisations, and to join the B.I.D.E. Summit and Awards Ceremony in celebrating excellence across health and care.

As a judge, Professor Sir Patrick looks forward to reviewing the nominations and helping to recognise the exceptional talent, leadership and commitment that continue to strengthen health and care services across the UK.
