EVENT – 19th May 2021 – How the government is using race and identity politics to divide and rule

In this session, we look at how the establishment is using the ‘culture wars’ to change ideas of race from structural racism to individual struggle: bigotry and prejudice.

How conversations about systemic racism turned into conversations about statues and cancelling shows like Faulty Towers.

That culture wars are an embodiment of white supremacy and nationalism.

And how the ruling classes blame racism on white working class communities to prevent multiracial working-class solidarity.

Speakers include:

Liz Fekete (Institute of Race Relations)

Patrick Vernon (Campaigner and Cultural Historian)

Ellie Mae O’Hagan – (CLASS)

Ali Torabi (Chair
