100 Black British Doctors Book Launch

100 Black British Doctors is a powerful step toward visibility and inclusion in medicine. Created by the Future Medics Forum, the book shares real stories from Black doctors across the UK, highlighting both their achievements and the challenges they’ve faced.

The goal is to inspire the next generation of medics by showing them what’s possible. Through honest, lived experiences, the book opens up conversations around access, representation, and equity in healthcare.

The launch event at Guy’s Hospital brings this mission to life, offering talks, networking, and direct insights from contributors.

Looking forward to being part of the upcoming 100 Black British DoctorsBook Launch on Sunday, May 17 at 2:30 pm, inviting audiences to find out more and register. It as an honour to contribute to such an important occasion—especially as the book draws inspiration from the 100 Great Black Britons campaign launched in 2003.

That original campaign focused on recognition and visibility, ensuring that the contributions of Black people in Britain are properly acknowledged. In 2020, alongside co-author Angelina Osborne, the campaign was relaunched with a new book, a national schools competition that received over 500 entries, and a crowdfunding initiative that raised over £7,000—helping distribute 1,000 copies to schools and pupil referral units.

This is what legacy looks like: inspiring new initiatives, new stories, and new generations. Books like 100 Black British Doctors are vital in celebrating excellence, highlighting the contributions of African and Caribbean heritage doctors to the NHS, and providing powerful role models for young people.
