About this event

As part of our campaign, this event is inspired by the findings of the See Me Hear Me Report 2024. It is dedicated to amplifying the voices of Black mothers and addressing the urgent need for equity and compassion in Black maternal healthcare.

The event will focus on engaging with system partners, stakeholders, and allies, to explore how we can co-create data frameworks that prioritise empathy, support and learning, especially for underserved communities like Black birthing mothers, who are still 3 times more likely to die in childbirth (MBRRACE-2022 report).

What to expect:

  • Experts, community advocates, and Black mothers share personal stories and insights drawn from the See Me Hear Me Report, focusing on lived experiences within the maternity healthcare system.
  • Explore key findings from our research highlighting systemic disparities in maternal care and discuss actionable steps to create a healthcare framework centred on equity.
  • Engage in interactive sessions to co-create solutions with healthcare leaders, policy influencers, and community members to ensure Black women are seen, heard, and respected in every healthcare interaction.

Why attend?

Whether you’re a healthcare professional, policymaker, community advocate, a local Black or Black Mixed Heritage mum, a member of the VCFSE sector, or passionate about maternal healthcare reform, this event offers a unique platform to learn, connect, exchange ideas and contribute to meaningful change. Let’s work together to build a future where every mother receives safe, compassionate, and culturally sensitive care.
