Warwick University’s Department of History with the Centre for the History of Medicine, has announced the appointment of Patrick Vernon, OBE, as its new Associate Member.

The Centre commented that there are delighted to be working with Patrick and look forward to future collaborations.

Mr Vernon said: “I am delighted to be appointed my former University in recognition of my work around public health and heritage. I would like to use this role to bridge the gap between the academic world and front line/grass roots practical interventions in the historical issues around tackling health and social care impacting Black and Minority Ethnic communities.”

“I am very keen to develop action research work on family genealogy and the legacy of enslavement around mental health and health inequalities on Black Britons,” he continued.
