Call for volunteers – The Windrush Anchor Memorial Project short film
The Windrush Anchor Memorial Project sets out with the ambitious initiative to recover the anchor of the sunken Windrush ship – and symbolises this iconic period of pioneers that have shaped modern Britain. As part of that initiative, we will be making a short film which celebrates the Windrush generation and the generations that have followed and have had a lasting impact on Britain.
We are welcoming volunteers to star in this film and help us recreate the ship and bring it to life digitally. If you have period clothing that could pass like being from the 50s or 60s, we would love to see that – we are also hiring costumes to help us represent the generations that have followed in the footsteps of Windrush. We will be thanking everyone who volunteers with a £50 Amazon voucher. But more importantly, this is an opportunity to take part in a unique project celebrating diversity, migration, and the generation that has shaped so much of what Britain is today.
The details for the shoot will be: Thursday 15th of June, 10am-2pm at Arup offices: 8 Fitzroy Street, London W1T 4BJ. Contact details: Charles Ingea charles.ingea@arup.com and Ahmad Harun ahmad.harun@arup.com
No acting experience is required and you won’t have any lines to say! You will simply be asked to change into period clothing (either your own, or hired costumes) and we will be filming a few group shots celebrating the diversity of people and professions who have impacted Britain in the Windrush generation and the ones that have followed.
